The NEW Cisco FPR2K-NM-8X1G-F is a fail-to-wire network module for the Cisco Firepower 2100 Series. It adds eight 1 Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 copper ports (10/100/1000BASE-T) to the network module slot on the Firepower 2130 and 2140, using standard Cat5e or Cat6 cabling with no transceivers required.
Fail-to-wire is what separates this module from the standard FPR2K-NM-8X1G, which uses SFP ports. The eight copper ports work as four bypass pairs. If the firewall loses power, reboots or hits a software fault, each pair can connect its two ports so traffic keeps flowing through the inline segment instead of dropping. That makes it a good fit for inline IPS deployments where uptime matters more than inspection during a failure.
