The Cisco Meraki MR42E-HW is the external-antenna version of the MR42, a Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac Wave 2) access point managed from the Meraki cloud dashboard. Use it where built-in antennas cannot reach: warehouses, gyms, auditoriums, and other high-ceiling spaces where coverage has to be aimed.

It runs 3x3 on 5 GHz and 2x2 on 2.4 GHz, for up to 1.9 Gbps combined radio rate, plus a dedicated scanning radio for security and RF analytics, and a Bluetooth Low Energy radio. It has five antenna ports and works with the Meraki MA-ANT-3 five-port antennas (A5, C5, D5, E5 and F5); connect all five. It has one Gigabit Ethernet port (RJ45) and runs on 802.3at PoE+ (20 W maximum) or a 12 V DC adapter.

Antennas are sold separately unless the listing says otherwise; we list the MA-ANT-3-E5 wide patch antenna. Cisco lists July 21, 2026 as the end of support. The MR42E still claims and runs in the Meraki dashboard, and we test every unit to confirm it. Sold unclaimed. A Meraki license is required and is sold separately. Covered by our 365-day warranty.
