The Cisco WS-C3850-48T-S is a 48-port Gigabit access switch from the Catalyst 3850 Series for data-only closets that don't need PoE. It runs the IP Base version, which covers Layer 2 switching plus basic Layer 3 routing, and ships with a 350 W AC power supply in one of its two power supply bays.
The switch delivers 176 Gbps of switching capacity and a 130.95 Mpps forwarding rate, with 4 GB of DRAM, 2 GB of flash and a MAC address table of up to 32,000 entries. Up to nine Catalyst 3850 switches can join one StackWise-480 stack with 480 Gbps of stack bandwidth, managed as a single switch, and StackPower lets stacked switches share their power supplies. Uplinks come from an optional network module, which is not included.
For uplinks, the Cisco C3850-NM-2-10G module adds two 10 Gigabit ports and the Cisco C3850-NM-4-10G module adds four. A second Cisco PWR-C1-350WAC power supply gives redundancy.
