• Active optical cables (AOC): 100 Gb/s QSFP28 (MFA1A00), for longer runs between racks.
• Transceivers: 1 GbE BASE-T SFP (MC3208), 10 GbE SFP+ (MFM1T02A), 40 GbE QSFP+ (MC2210, MMA1B00), 56 Gb/s QSFP (MC2207), 100 GbE QSFP28 (MMA, MMS1C10), 200 GbE QSFP56 (MMS1W50), and 400 and 800 Gb/s OSFP (MMS4X00).
• QSFP-to-SFP adapters (MAM1Q00A): run a 10 GbE SFP+ optic or cable in a 40 GbE QSFP port.

Choosing a cable or optic

• In the same rack: DAC is cheapest and uses no optics.
• Across the row: an AOC, or a pair of short-reach (SR) transceivers over multimode fiber.
• Across the building or campus: long-reach (LR, DR) transceivers over single-mode fiber.
• Match the form factor (SFP+, SFP28, QSFP28, QSFP56, OSFP) to the port on your switch and NIC.

Frequently asked questions

Will NVIDIA Mellanox cables work in my ConnectX card and Mellanox switch?
Yes, when the form factor and speed match. These are the same NVIDIA Mellanox part numbers the switches and adapters are qualified with.

DAC or AOC?
DAC for short runs inside a rack, since it costs less and uses less power. AOC for longer runs, since it is lighter and reaches further.
