Reading 7048 part numbers

• 7048T: T means RJ45 copper access ports. Every 7048 has 48 of them.
• -A: the later version of the 7048T. It adds Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) and ships with 460W power supplies.
• -4S: the original 7048T, with four SFP+ uplinks. It ships with 760W power supplies.
• -F and -R at the end: airflow. -F moves air front-to-back and -R moves air back-to-front. The same letters on fans and power supplies show the airflow they match.
• PWR-460AC and PWR-760AC: the number is the watts and AC is the input.

Which version do I need?

• 7048T-A or 7048T-4S: match the version you already run. For a new deployment the -A is the later design, with ZTP.
• Airflow: match the airflow to your hot and cold aisles, and buy fans and power supplies with the same letter as the switch.
• Replacement parts: choose the power supply by version and airflow, 460W for the -A and 760W for the -4S. Check the listing for the fan that fits your version.

What is the difference between the 7048T-A and the 7048T-4S?
Both have 48 100/1000BASE-T RJ45 ports and four 1/10G SFP+ uplinks. The -A is the later version, with Zero Touch Provisioning, and ships with 460W power supplies. The -4S is the original and ships with 760W power supplies.

Can I mix airflow directions in one switch?
No. The fans and power supplies in a switch must all match its airflow direction.

Are optics included?
No. The SFP+ ports take 1G and 10G optics and twinax cables, which are sold separately.
