The NVIDIA Mellanox MCP7Y00-N001 is a 1m passive copper splitter cable that turns one 800Gb/s twin-port OSFP switch port into two 400Gb/s OSFP connections. It is built for NDR InfiniBand, linking a Quantum-2 switch such as the QM9700 or QM9790 to two servers in the same rack.
The twin-port end plugs into one OSFP cage on the switch, which carries two 400Gb/s NDR ports. Each of the two 400Gb/s ends plugs into a ConnectX-7 OSFP adapter. A passive copper cable has no optics and draws no power, so it is the lowest-cost and lowest-latency way to connect GPU and compute servers that sit close to the switch. For longer runs, use twin-port optics such as the MMA4Z00-NS with MMA4Z00-NS400 adapter optics.
