NEW Cisco Meraki MA-MOD-2X40G MS390 2x 40GB QSFP+ Switch Module

The Cisco Meraki MA-MOD-2X40G is a 2-port 40 Gigabit QSFP+ uplink module for Meraki MS390 switches. It installs in the MS390 network module slot and gives the switch two 40 Gigabit uplinks to an aggregation or core switch. Meraki lists it for all MS390 models.

Forty Gigabit uplinks suit closets with many Multigigabit or UPoE access points, where 10 Gigabit uplinks become the bottleneck. Two ports allow a dual-homed design, with one link to each core switch. QSFP+ optics or direct attach cables are sold separately.

The MS390 uplink slot also takes 10 Gigabit and other modules, so the same switch can be upgraded later without replacing it. Check the uplink capability of the switch at the other end before choosing 40 Gigabit; many access-layer cores still use 10 Gigabit. QSFP+ optics such as 40GBASE-SR4 modules run over multimode fiber, while direct attach cables suit links inside the same rack.
