The NVIDIA Mellanox MCP1600-E02AE26 is a 2.5m passive copper cable for EDR InfiniBand at 100Gb/s, with QSFP28 connectors on both ends. It links EDR InfiniBand switches and ConnectX adapters inside a rack or to the next rack.
A passive copper cable, also called a DAC, has no optics and draws no power, making it the lowest-cost, lowest-latency way to connect ports that sit close together. It plugs directly into EDR switches such as the SB7700, SB7800, and SB7890, and into ConnectX-4, ConnectX-5, and ConnectX-6 adapters running EDR InfiniBand. For runs longer than a few meters, use an active optical cable such as the MFA1A00-E010.
The E in the part number means EDR InfiniBand. For 100GbE Ethernet, choose an MCP1600-C cable instead.
