Cisco N9K-C9508-FM-E Nexus 9500 8x Slot 800 Gbps Cloud Scale Fabric Module

The Cisco N9K-C9508-FM-E is a Cloud Scale fabric module for the Nexus 9508 8-slot chassis. Fabric modules connect the line cards to each other, and the FM-E provides 800 Gbps per line card slot, for 100GB line cards.

A Nexus 9508 takes a minimum of four and a maximum of five of these modules. In both ACI and NX-OS modes they support the X9736C-FX3, X9736C-FX, and X9732C-EX line cards. In NX-OS mode they also support the X9732C-FX, X9736C-EX, X97160YC-EX, and X9788TC-FX. They do not support the X9716D-GX. This module fits only the N9K-C9508 chassis.

Four modules give full bandwidth to the supported line cards, and a fifth adds redundancy so a single module can be replaced without losing capacity. Cisco lists power draw at 455W typical. Fabric modules mount at the rear of the chassis behind the fan trays. Cisco lists a spare version, N9K-C9508-FM-E=. Line cards from the first-generation, -S, and R-Series families need their own matching fabric modules and cannot use the FM-E.

The Cisco N9K-X9732C-EX 32x 100GB QSFP28 line card is a matching 100GB line card. The Cisco QSFP-100G-SR4-S 100GB SR4 QSFP28 transceiver fits its ports.
