The Cisco N9K-C9508-FM-S is a 100GB fabric module for the Nexus 9508 8-slot chassis, from the -S family of Nexus 9500 hardware. Fabric modules connect the line cards to each other and set how much bandwidth each line card slot has.

Cisco lists it for the N9K-X9432C-S line card in NX-OS mode. A Nexus 9508 using the -S family takes exactly four of these modules, and four are required for full bandwidth. This module fits only the N9K-C9508 chassis and is not interchangeable with the first-generation, Cloud Scale -E, or R-Series fabric modules.

Because every line card in a Nexus 9500 depends on the fabric modules, a matched set of four is needed for the chassis to run at full capacity. A spare module lets you replace a failed unit quickly and restore full bandwidth to the -S line cards.
