Cisco Meraki MA-QSFP-40G-CSR4 40GB BASE-CSR4 MPO12 850nm MMF QSFP Transceiver

The Cisco Meraki MA-QSFP-40G-CSR4 is a 40GBASE-CSR4 QSFP+ optic for 40 Gigabit links over multimode fiber. It transmits at 850nm over parallel fibers terminated in a single MPO-12 connector. Reach is 82 meters on OM2, 300 meters on OM3, and 400 meters on OM4 fiber, well beyond the standard SR4 optic.

Meraki lists it for the MS355, MS390, MS425, and MS450 switches. On the MS390 the 40 Gigabit ports come from an uplink module, so the switch needs the MA-MOD-2X40G installed before it can use this optic. Both ends of the link must use 40 Gigabit multimode optics with an MPO trunk or MPO patch cable between them.

CSR4 is the choice when a 40 Gigabit link runs between floors or across a large building on existing OM3 or OM4 MPO cabling, where the 150-meter limit of an SR4 optic falls short. Check the fiber grade and the MPO trunk polarity before ordering.
