NEW Cisco Meraki MA-SFP-10GB-LRM 10GB BASE-LRM 1310nm MMF SFP+ Transceiver

The Cisco Meraki MA-SFP-10GB-LRM is a 10GBASE-LRM SFP+ optic built to run 10 Gigabit over older multimode fiber. It transmits at 1310nm with a duplex LC connector and reaches 220 meters on OM1, OM2, or OM3 multimode fiber, or 300 meters on single-mode fiber.

LRM exists for buildings whose riser cabling is legacy OM1 or OM2 multimode, where a 10GBASE-SR optic reaches only 26 to 82 meters. With LRM, the same fiber can carry 10 Gigabit across a typical building without pulling more cable.

Meraki lists it on multimode fiber for the MS225, MS250, MS350, MS355, MS390, MS410, and MS425 switches. On single-mode fiber the list adds the MX95, MX105, MX250, MX400, MX450, and MX600 appliances, so use single-mode when the far end is one of those MX models. Both ends of a link must use 10GBASE-LRM optics; it does not link to an SR or LR optic.

For OM3 or OM4 cabling, the MA-SFP-10GB-SR is the common choice, and for 10 kilometer single-mode links, the MA-SFP-10GB-LR. Switches that take this optic include the MS225-48-HW, and the MS390 takes it through the MA-MOD-4X10G module.
