Proline MA-SFP-1GB-SX-PRO 1GB 1000BASE-SX 850nm MMF SFP for Cisco Meraki

The Proline MA-SFP-1GB-SX-PRO is a third-party 1000BASE-SX SFP optic made by Proline and coded to work in Cisco Meraki equipment as an equivalent to the Meraki MA-SFP-1GB-SX. It is not a Cisco-made part. It carries Gigabit Ethernet over multimode fiber at 850nm with a duplex LC connector, which fits standard multimode patch cords.

Under the 1000BASE-SX standard, reach is 220 meters on OM1 fiber and 550 meters on OM2 fiber. That covers the usual links inside one building: closet to core, floor to floor, or a firewall to a fiber handoff in the same room.

Compatible optics are a common way to equip several switch uplinks at lower cost than branded parts. Meraki lists the MA-SFP-1GB-SX for its MS switch families and for the MX75 through MX600 security appliances, and this module is coded for those SFP ports. Both ends of a link must use 1000BASE-SX optics on matching multimode cable.
