The Cisco Meraki MR78 is an outdoor Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) access point managed from the Meraki Dashboard. It has a 2.4 GHz and a 5 GHz client radio, each 2x2 MU-MIMO with two spatial streams and OFDMA, for an aggregate frame rate of 1.5 Gbps, with up to 1,201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 286 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. A Bluetooth Low Energy 5 radio handles beacons and scanning.
Internal antennas give 5.4 dBi of gain on 2.4 GHz and 6 dBi on 5 GHz, so there are no antennas to buy or mount. The housing is IP67 rated for -4 to 131 degrees Fahrenheit and carries a UL 2043 plenum rating.
The uplink is one 10/100/1000 RJ-45 port on 802.3af PoE at 37 to 57V, with a 15W maximum draw, and a 12V DC input is also available; the injector and adapter are sold separately. The unit measures 9.65 x 4.53 x 1.18 inches and weighs 0.99 lb. Standard mounting hardware is included, with a cradle bubble level and a concealed mount plate.
For external antennas and N-type connectors, see the MR76-HW outdoor access point, or the 4x4 MR86-HW. The MA-INJ-4-US PoE+ injector powers it where the switch has no PoE. The access point is sold unclaimed; a Meraki license is required, purchased separately.
