The Cisco Meraki CW9164I-MR is an indoor Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax) access point in the Meraki cloud-managed version. It runs 2x2 on 2.4 GHz and 4x4 on both 5 GHz and 6 GHz, for a maximum PHY rate of 7.49 Gbps. Internal omnidirectional antennas give 3 dBi on 2.4 GHz, 5 dBi on 5 GHz, and 4 dBi on 6 GHz.
The uplink is one Multigigabit RJ-45 port at 100M, 1G, or 2.5G. On 802.3at PoE+ at 25W all radios run but the USB port is off; 802.3bt at 30W adds USB. 802.3af is for staging only, with the radios off, so plan PoE+ or better on the switch.
The 4x4 radios on 5 and 6 GHz make this a fit for offices, lecture rooms, and clinics with many clients per room. The 6 GHz band needs a Wi-Fi 6E or newer client. The unit is 9.5 inches square and weighs 3.5 lb.
For a smaller, lower-cost 2x2 option, see the CW9162I-MR. The CW9166I-MR adds a flexible XOR radio and a 5GB uplink, and the CW9172I (new) is a Wi-Fi 7 option. The access point is sold unclaimed; a Meraki license is required, purchased separately.
This Cisco Meraki CW9164I-MR access point is new and covered by the NetworkTigers one-year warranty. The original packaging may have been opened to inspect the contents.
