The Cisco Meraki CW9172I is an indoor Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) access point. It runs 2x2 radios on 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz for up to 9 Gbps, or it can run 2.4 GHz plus a 4x4 5 GHz radio with 6 GHz off. A scanning radio and an IoT radio for Bluetooth Low Energy and 802.15.4 are built in.
The uplink is one Multigigabit RJ-45 port at 100M, 1G, or 2.5G. Full function with USB needs 802.3bt Class 5 PoE at up to 32W; 802.3at PoE+ still runs all radios. Internal omnidirectional antennas give 4 dBi on 2.4 GHz, 5.5 dBi on 5 GHz, and 6 dBi on 6 GHz.
It is the compact entry model in the Cisco Wi-Fi 7 range, at 7.8 inches square and 1.9 lb, for offices, retail, and clinics. Cisco Wi-Fi 7 access points use one part number for cloud and on-premises management, so the CW9172I can be claimed into the Meraki Dashboard or run on a Catalyst 9800 controller. It mounts with the AIR-AP-BRACKET-1 or AIR-AP-BRACKET-2.
If your clients are not yet Wi-Fi 7, the CW9166I-MR Wi-Fi 6E access point and the CW9162I-MR are proven tri-band options. The access point is sold unclaimed; a Meraki or Cisco license is required, purchased separately.
