NEW Cisco Meraki MA-QSFP-40G-SR4 40GB BASE-SR4 850nm MPO12 MMF QSFP+ Transceiver

The Cisco Meraki MA-QSFP-40G-SR4 is a 40GBASE-SR4 QSFP+ optic for 40 Gigabit links over multimode fiber. It transmits at 850nm over parallel fibers terminated in a single MPO-12 connector, with a reach of 30 meters on OM2, 100 meters on OM3, and 150 meters on OM4 fiber.

Meraki lists it for the MS355, MS390, MS425, and MS450 switches. On the MS390 the 40 Gigabit ports come from an uplink module, so the switch needs one installed before it can use this optic. Both ends of a link must use 40GBASE-SR4 optics with an MPO trunk or MPO patch cable between them.

SR4 is the usual choice for 40 Gigabit links between an access stack and an aggregation or core switch in the same building, or between switches in a data room where MPO trunk cabling is already in place. Where only duplex LC fiber is available, a BiDi optic runs 40 Gigabit over that existing pair instead.
